About Verona: Hometown U.S.A.

Verona has been referred to as “Hometown U.S.A.” since 1966. This nickname originates from a detachment of fighting men in Vietnam who adopted Verona as “the perfect example of Hometown U.S.A.” Every June Verona celebrates its wonderful community with an event for all ages called “Hometown Days”. Some examples of previous events included in this celebration include a parade, movie and dance party with snacks for kids, balloon sculpting, carnival rides, adult softball, hockey performance, pancake breakfast, live music, food tents and refreshments.

Verona Public Library

The public library is located at 500 Silent Street, just 7 minutes from Scenic Ridge Apartments. The public library has been part of the community since it’s original foundation in 1947 but was given a brand new building in May of 2006. The library is well supported by it’s community and freely provides a wealth of resources and programs for it’s patrons. Some regularly scheduled events include baby/toddler/preschool/everybody/sensory story times, Anime and Manga club, adult coloring club, book discussions, introductory and intermediate computer classes, employment enhancing workshops, arts and crafts and meetings held by the city’s public workers to discuss community happenings.
